Job Summary The Paramedic responds to medical emergencies and provides advanced critical care during transport to the hospital. As the first healthcare provider at the scene, the Paramedic partners with firefighters and police in evaluating the situation. The Paramedic offers basic and advanced life‑saving support, administers treatments, and directs EMTs in delivering consistent patient care at the appropriate certification level. Delegated Tasks Respond to EMS Call‑Center requests, prioritize patient care, coordinate with other healthcare providers, and facilitate transport appropriately. Work with the free‑standing Brandon Hospital Emergency Departments and the main Brandon Hospital Emergency Department. Collect and convey patient information to team members and attending physicians during transfers. Provide care as the primary provider during inter‑facility transports. Assess, plan, implement interventions, and evaluate appropriate patient care levels. Maintain competence in thorough patient care documentation and use of EMS PCR and ED software. Perform EMS hand‑off reports at facility destinations and report to nursing staff and ED physicians. Ensure readiness of ambulance and all associated equipment for service. Requirements Graduate of an approved Paramedic program. Associate’s Degree in Emergency Medical Services/Paramedic or Certificate of completion required. Current State of Florida Paramedic License. American Heart Association ACL, BLS, PALS. EVOC – Emergency Vehicle Operations Course completion certificate, or equivalent. FEMA‑100, 200, 700, 800 preferred. ITLS – International Trauma Life Support provider card preferred. CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) training required for behavioral health. One year experience as a Paramedic in the field or hospital setting preferred. In This Role You Will Operate emergency medical vehicle and respond to calls for aid. Evaluate patient condition and establish treatment course. Provide a variety of emergency medical treatment to injured, sick, or incapacitated patients. Perform invasive procedures under adverse conditions. Manage non‑medical situations such as crowd control. Lift and transport patients while keeping them stable. Communicate patient data and condition to professional medical personnel at the receiving facility. Qualifications You Will Need Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification within 30 days of employment start date. Basic Cardiac Life Support certification within 30 days of employment start date. PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification within 30 days of employment start date. Paramedic or equivalent certification. Completion of required certificates.
