Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in a dynamic medical-surgical/telemetry environment. This position will require floating between Medical-Surgical Telemetry (MS/Tele) and Progressive Care Unit (PCU) units as needed.

Shift Details

The schedule for this position includes:

• 3x12-Hour Night Shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Required to work every other weekend

Patient Care and Ratios

The nurse will be responsible for providing care to patients in a variety of settings, with typical patient ratios of 1:4 to 1:5.

Qualifications

• Active and unrestricted Arizona RN License or valid, participating compact license (may submit with pending license)
• Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and NIHSS certifications are required
• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required, with a preference for candidates with strong MS/Tele and ICU/PCU backgrounds
• First-time travelers are encouraged to apply

Floating Requirements

Candidates must be open to floating between units based on departmental needs and census requirements.

Facility Overview

This position is located in a Short Term Acute Care teaching hospital with a Level IV trauma designation. The facility has approximately 87 staffed beds, and a focus on quality patient care and safety.

Patient Population

The PCU caters to a diverse range of high acuity patients, including:

• Level 1 trauma cases
• Post-bariatric surgical patients
• General surgical and medical patients with complex needs

Key Skills Required

• Expertise in cardiac/vasoactive drip management and interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Competence in BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, and central line care/management
• Experience with telemetry, including remote monitoring and the interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs)
• Ability to perform tracheostomy care and manage patients with traumatic brain injuries

Additional Information

The selected candidate will complete orientation and training, with billable module hours during the first week of the assignment. The daily census in the unit is 27, with 34 beds available, ensuring a supportive and collaborative environment.
