The City of Luling is accepting applications for a full-time Recreation Coordinator . The City of Luling is looking for an energetic individual with a passion for recreation. This position is permanent, full-time employment that will bring many forms of recreation to the City, including sports, programs, events, and more. Under the direction of the Parks and Recreation Director, the Recreation Coordinator is responsible for the successful planning, implementation, and evaluation of community-wide programs and events. About the Role Performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the construction, maintenance, repair, and cleaning of city parks, grounds, recreational facilities, and maintenance to municipal buildings. The Recreation Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, and managing recreational programs, community events, and park-related activities that are athletic and non-athletic for the Parks Department. This position works closely with other city departments, community organizations, and the public to promote recreation initiatives and enhance community engagement through a variety of programs and events. Essential Duties and Responsibilities 1. Plans and organizes various types of programs and special events including activities, programs, sports, events, and classes Establishes event/program timelines; prepares itineraries, schedules facilities, event setup/takedown. Liaises with vendors, sponsors, and volunteers. Develops and adheres to program budgets and tracks expenditures. Submits purchase requests for necessary supplies. Ensures all rules, regulations, policies and procedures are followed in the development and implementation of programs/events. Compiles, reviews, and analyzes event data; prepares related reports. Assists will all Recreation, Departmental events, and City events as assigned. 2. Coordinates and performs a variety of marketing tasks Designs and creates flyers used to promote the City's recreation programs and special events. Coordinates and maintains/updates of the Department's social media. 3. Develops and administers program/event budgets Tracks and monitors revenue and expenditures for individual programs and events Prepares purchase requisitions and check requests 4. Provides customer service and assistance to the public Responds to inquiries regarding recreations programs and special events Assists with program registration and/or facility bookings Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Possession of a valid Texas Driver's License 2+ years of experience in recreational programming or parks management Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook Must be able to successfully complete any required background check, drug screening, and other pre-employment requirements established by the City. Preferred Qualification Bachelor's Degree in Recreation Administration or related field CPR/First Aid Certification Physical Demands & Working Conditions Occasional lifting up to 50lbs Working in varied weather conditions with physical activity May require evening or weekend hours during special events or peak seasons This is a full-time position with full City benefits.
