Sr. Engineer

Location Minnetonka, MN Responsibilities Manage all aspects of client relationships. Discuss potential project opportunities, RFP details, and contract reviews. Establish and maintain key strategic partnerships to win work and deliver quality municipal and infrastructure design and construction services. Collaborate with other sector leaders within the company regarding pursuits and staffing. Follow and maintain strategic plan initiatives and goals for the MN and/or ND municipal sector and the company. Demonstrate strong mentoring of project engineers in contract development, project profitability, and risk management. Participate in business development and marketing activities related to municipal services with potential new clients and existing municipal clients. Attend conferences and professional seminars to further Apex’s mission to grow MN and/or ND municipal services. Coordinate and direct project pursuit efforts by participating in prospecting, proposals, and performance for projects with significant impact on sector revenue. Participate in municipal leadership team meetings. Responsible for hiring and recruiting strategic positions that meet company or sector growth goals. Utilize effective communication skills required in public meetings and professional seminars. Provide the Municipal Sector Leader with financial and progress reports on MN and/or ND municipal related operations. Stay abreast of the latest civil engineering technical advancements, technology, and concepts in the MN and/or ND municipal market, and make recommendations to the Municipal Sector Leader. Understand and follow company employee handbook and mandated safety policies. Perform responsibilities in a conscientious, legal, and ethical manner with strong attention to detail. Work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment. Participate in professional organizations and community leadership programs. Travel and out-of-town stays may be required. This position may frequently require more than 40‑hour work weeks. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, 10+ years of municipal engineering experience, and a minimum of 7 years project management experience, predominantly in MN and/or ND. Licensed engineer to practice in MN and/or ND. Experience and working knowledge preferred in municipal engineering, construction, and public works/utilities in MN and/or ND. Experience with developing business and managing personnel in the consulting engineering industry preferred. Involvement in professional organizations beneficial to Apex and the municipal sector. Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or other CAD-based civil design software is a plus. Proficient using Microsoft Windows/Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Detail oriented, self‑motivated with strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain one. Physical Requirements Operate a computer under normal ergonomic office conditions. Clearly articulate verbal and written communications. Lift and move objects up to 50 pounds occasionally. May require prolonged periods of standing and walking to perform typical tasks. Work required hours in office or off‑site. Perform essential duties satisfactorily.
