The Florida Department of Military Affairs is seeking a Groundskeeper to provide management oversight of the Florida National Guard and provide units and personnel ready to support national security objectives; to protect the public safety of citizens and to contribute to the national, state and community programs that add value to the United States of America and to the State of Florida.

Conditions of employment include:

• Pass a pre-employment drug screening

Minimum requirements:

• A High School Diploma or equivalent
• One (1) year experience landscaping or maintaining grounds and property or related work

Physical requirements:

• Ability to bend, squat, climb, kneel, twist, grasp, push, and pull
• Manual dexterity with hands and fingers
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs. or more

Duties and responsibilities include:

• Maintaining all lawns, field areas, ditch lines, sidewalks, curb areas, hedges, and shrubs on base
• Maintaining and servicing mowers, weed eaters, chainsaws, and edging equipment
• Maintaining facility restrooms cleanliness
• Performing all other assigned duties

Knowledge, skills, and abilities include:

• Knowledge of groundskeeping, landscaping, or horticulture techniques
• Skill in the safe operation and maintenance of machinery and equipment
• Ability to maintain lawns and grounds
• Ability to motivate others
• Ability to follow instructions and pay attention to detail
• Ability to record data and maintain records
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Ability to follow safety rules and environmental policies
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
• Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments
