Reports To: Operations Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (or Exempt based on company policy)

Note: This operation runs 24/7, and individual schedules are determined by volume and client needs. Weekend availability is required, and the facility is only closed three days per year.

Position Summary

The Inventory Control Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily inventory control activities and ensuring inventory accuracy throughout the distribution center. This role provides direct leadership to Inventory Control Leads and Associates, supports operational efficiency, and drives compliance with inventory, safety, and quality standards. The successful candidate will possess strong analytical skills, leadership abilities, and experience working within a warehouse management system (WMS) environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Inventory Control Operations

• Supervise daily inventory control activities and ensure inventory accuracy throughout the facility.
• Coordinate and oversee cycle count programs, inventory audits, and reconciliation activities.
• Investigate inventory discrepancies and perform root-cause analysis to identify corrective actions.
• Create and maintain inventory locations, slotting profiles, and item master accuracy.
• Review and analyze inventory reports, including cycle count variances, adjustments, expiration reports, and inventory exceptions.
• Monitor inventory integrity and take proactive measures to minimize shortages, variances, and out-of-stocks.
• Process and oversee inventory transactions, transfers, returns, and product dispositions.

Team Leadership & Development

• Supervise, coach, and develop Inventory Control Leads and Associates.
• Assign daily workloads and monitor employee productivity and performance.
• Assist with onboarding and training of new team members.
• Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback and coaching.
• Promote a positive work environment focused on accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
• Enforce company policies, procedures, and safety standards.

Operational Support

• Partner with warehouse operations, quality, and leadership teams to resolve inventory-related issues.
• Support investigations involving inventory discrepancies, damaged product, and customer concerns.
• Participate in daily operational meetings and communicate inventory priorities and concerns.
• Assist with inventory-related projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Operate material handling equipment, including forklifts, as needed.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with all safety, food safety, quality, and operational procedures.
• Report incidents, errors, and inventory-related concerns promptly.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and documentation.
• Support audit preparation and compliance requirements.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree or college coursework in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of warehouse, inventory control, or distribution center leadership experience.
• Previous supervisory or lead experience preferred.
• Experience in wholesale, distribution, grocery, food, or high-volume warehouse operations preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Strong knowledge of inventory control processes and warehouse operations.
• Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to effectively train, motivate, and develop employees.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout a warehouse environment for extended periods.
• Ability to operate warehouse equipment as required.
• Ability to work in varying warehouse temperature conditions.

Work Environment

• Fast-paced distribution center environment.
• Exposure to varying temperatures, warehouse equipment, and operational noise.
• Must be flexible to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts as business needs require.
