(Ferguson Construction does not sponsor employment visas)High School Students: Please apply to our Construction High School Internship job posting.Job Summary:Lays out, positions, aligns and fits together fabricated parts of structural metal.Supervisory Responsibilities: No supervisory responsibilities at this levelDuties/Responsibilities:Shake out partsPositions or tightens braces, jacks and clampsBolt parts in position for welding or boltingUses transit to locate reference pointsDemonstrate the proper use of all personal protective equipmentIdentify proper rigging equipmentKnow and properly use crane signalsOperate cut-off sawOperate different types of man lifts in a safe mannerOperate Sawz-allBegin learning to rig structural member for liftBegin learning to complete structural detailingHave an understanding of Skyweb strappingOperate torch for straight and bevel cutsBegin learning to read pre-engineered erection drawingsReasonable expectation to help train under-skilled coworkersOther duties and tasks as assigned by a superintendent/supervisor/crew leaderRequired Skills/Abilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Absent a diploma or GED then six (6) months related experience and/or trainingAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and manualsBasic math skillsAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram formOSHA 10-hour trainingRough terrain forklift certificationAerial lift certificationOther Qualifications:Must be willing to travel to job locationsMust work in other trades as neededMust have all tools on required Ferguson Construction tool list to move to next levelWork overtime and Saturdays as neededPerform general maintenance or cleanup workAttend appropriate training courses when requested in order to move to next levelWork with others in a harmonious way and maintains an attitude becoming a Ferguson Construction IronworkerPhysical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the duties/responsibilities of this job.
