Hematopathologist

Summary Certified by the American Board of Pathology for anatomic or clinical pathology, this role involves the study of disease and disease processes by means of macroscopic, microscopic, immunologic, and molecular examination of organs and tissue. The physician practices medicine within the scope of authority and privileges granted by Moffitt Cancer Center, serving as a member of the academic medical enterprise and advancing the institution’s mission. The position may span the clinical and research enterprise, supporting patient care, research, and education. Responsibilities

  • Closely affiliated with large and expanding programs in hematologic malignancies and stem cell transplant, with a strong emphasis on myelodysplasia, acute leukemia, and lymphoma.
  • Opportunities to combine interests in diagnostic pathology and immunotherapy through a growing CAR‑T cell program.
  • Multidisciplinary collaboration with physicians and scientists, including options to join established basic research programs and pursue translational research.
  • Training of pathology residents and hematopathology fellows.
  • Clinical duties include evaluation of peripheral blood, bone marrow, and lymph node specimens, as well as molecular diagnostic and NGS testing.
Requirements
  • Board certified in Clinical Pathology, Hematopathology, and Molecular Pathology, or eligible for such certification.
  • Board certification in Anatomic Pathology is preferred.
  • In-depth experience or training in molecular pathology.
  • Experience in an academic, multidisciplinary, university clinical setting is preferred.
  • Licensure or eligibility for licensure in the State of Florida.
