Mammography Technologist - Per Diem

Per Diem Mammography Technologist – Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center Part‑time, temporary position for a qualified technologist to operate mammography scanners, perform imaging procedures, and provide patient care within the University of Miami UHealth System’s Department of Radiology. Core Job Functions Obtain and review orders for mammography scans, confirming exam type and notifying supervisors of discrepancies. Verify patient identity using electronic medical records and wristband; obtain consent and provide patient education. Operate mammography scanners and related equipment, strictly adhering to radiation safety procedures and ACR/FL DOH guidelines. Position patients for imaging using immobilization and protective equipment; maintain aseptic technique throughout the procedure. Assist the radiologist with image acquisition, including IV placement, contrast media injection, and interventional mammography procedures. Evaluate scans for technical quality, collate images, and transmit to PACS; record findings and charge supplies in UChart/Radiant. Provide patient support, reduce anxiety, and respond to medical emergencies, including CPR and “Code Blue” procedures. Maintain a clean work area, stock exam rooms with required supplies, and report unusual findings promptly. Schedule patients and perform administrative duties; orient and train new technologists and student technologists. Adhere to hospital policies, Joint Commission, AHCA, FL DOH, and FDA/MQSA regulations. Minimum Requirements High School diploma or equivalent. Graduate of an accredited radiologic technology program (Council for Higher Education Accreditation). ARRT registered with a valid State of Florida General Radiography license (Limited/Basic licenses not acceptable). ARRT certification in mammography within 12 months of hire. CPR certification. Qualifications Minimum one year of relevant mammography experience; new graduates from accredited schools will be considered. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport with patients of all ages. Competence in patient safety, infection control, emergency response, and developmental care for diverse patient populations. Proficiency with PACS, UChart/Radiant, and radiation safety protocols. Ability to work independently and provide guidance to peers and trainees.
