Project Manager

Title Project Manager Type Full-Time / Exempt Reports To Division Supervisor / Division Manager Essential Functions Supervises a team of General Forepersons and their crews, administering policy enforcement, quality and quantity of work production, safety practice, employee relations, and Union Agreements when applicable. Co‑ordinates with Human Resources on employment matters for crew members, including hiring, discipline, separation, leaves of absence (FMLA/ADA), new‑hire procedures, and Form I‑9 compliance. Conducts interviews of potential candidates and participates in training to administer oral drug testing and reasonable‑suspicion procedures. Trains and coaches employees, evaluates performance, and provides feedback; conducts safety training, stand‑downs, and tailgate trainings as necessary. Manages daily production tasks and maintains accurate records and reports of crew operations, providing supervisors, managers, and utility representatives with completion orders, unit counts, crew time, and incident reports. Investigates accident reports and damage claims, and may act as a designated representative to settle minor damage or injury claims. Controls crew costs through effective use of manpower, work methods, trimming quantity, and equipment operation. Stays informed of new equipment specifications, standard practices, and operating procedures. Maintains contact with customers, property owners, the public, other contractors, and utility and governmental agencies, representing Wright Tree Service professionally and courteously. Complies with all written Wright Tree Service manuals and materials, including the Foreperson’s Manual and Employee Handbook. Works safely around hazardous equipment, energized power lines, excessive noise, and varying weather conditions while wearing proper personal protective equipment. May work on rough terrain and perform other related duties as required or assigned. Minimum Qualifications Minimum of 4–5 years’ experience working on tree trimming or clearing crews, or successful completion of applicable performance reviews. Excellent leadership skills with the ability to handle stressful situations and multi‑task. Basic knowledge of trees, including identification, growth habits and arboricultural techniques for trimming, pruning, repairing, maintaining and removing trees near energized conductors. Understanding of ANSI standards for tree care operations (ANSIZ133.1‑2000) and proper pruning (ANSIA300). Knowledge of OSHA rules and guidelines. Proficient with Microsoft Office products. Basic knowledge of electrical circuits and ability to read and understand circuit maps. Professional communication skills, both verbal and written, with customers, the public, and colleagues. Enforcement of on‑job safety practices and willingness to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). Physical ability to enter and exit vehicles frequently, lift and maneuver up to 50pounds infrequently and 30pounds frequently, work in all weather conditions, and endure exposure to noise, dust, insects, and other environmental hazards. Availability for long hours, overtime, emergency (including holidays, weekends, storm work), and call‑out work, and ability to travel up to 20% of the time. Ability to operate and service all required tools and equipment. Valid driver’s license (CDL), medical card, and ability to pass a pre‑employment drug test and background check. ISA Certification. Herbicide applicator or operator certification and license as required by local, state, and federal law. Valid First‑Aid and CPR certifications.
