Job Details

Our client is a global engineering, procurement and construction/construction management organization serving clients across the energy, mining & metals, infrastructure, advanced technologies/manufacturing and life sciences industries.

The organization is seeking a highly experienced **Senior Counsel** to join its Legal Department and serve as a strategic legal advisor to business leaders and project teams.

This is a senior-level opportunity for an attorney with significant experience negotiating complex engineering and construction agreements and advising businesses throughout the lifecycle of major projects.

### What You'll Do

* Draft, negotiate and interpret sophisticated engineering and construction agreements, including complex **EPC/EPCM contracts, FEED agreements, framework agreements and joint venture agreements**.
* Partner with business lines on proposals, pursuits and project development.
* Provide legal support throughout project execution.
* Advise project teams and senior leadership regarding contractual obligations, commercial risk and legal exposure.
* Manage and assist with claims, disputes and dispute resolution matters.
* Identify legal and commercial risks and develop practical strategies to mitigate those risks.
* Provide strategic legal advice to internal stakeholders and senior leadership.
* Interpret new laws and regulations and advise the business regarding their impact.
* Work collaboratively with internal and external legal resources.
* Help ensure business practices and legal activities comply with applicable laws, policies and corporate standards.
* Contribute to the development, mentoring and professional advancement of other legal professionals.
* Deliver formal training to internal stakeholders when appropriate.
* Travel periodically in connection with client and project matters.

### What We're Looking For

* JD from an ABA-accredited law school.
* **15+ years of relevant legal experience** in a law firm and/or in-house legal department.
* Significant transactional experience within the **engineering and construction industry**.
* Demonstrated experience drafting, negotiating and interpreting sophisticated **EPC/EPCM contracts**.
* Strong experience independently negotiating complex commercial agreements.
* Experience with project execution, claims and/or dispute resolution.
* Ability to provide practical, strategic legal advice to senior business leaders.
* Strong understanding of legal and commercial risk within major projects.
* Exceptional communication, judgment and negotiation skills.
* Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.
* Strong business orientation and service mindset.
* Willingness and ability to work **in-office in Greenville, SC**.
* Ability to travel periodically for project/client matters.
