What You’ll Need

Education & Certification:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related field from a GaPSC-approved college or university.
• Valid Georgia Teaching Certificate (or eligibility for GaPSC provisional certification).

Experience & Skills:

• Classroom Expertise: Strong knowledge of GCPS Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS), instructional technology, diagnostic assessment, and differentiated instruction.
• Athletic Knowledge: Up-to-date knowledge of applicable sports, including fundamentals, rules, strategies, and safety practices.
• Communication: Demonstrated excellence in building effective relationships with students, parents, administrators, and the community.
• Experience: Prior teaching and coaching experience is highly preferred (experience is recognized on the salary schedule).

Primary Responsibilities

In this dual role, you will balance classroom instruction with the leadership of athletic programs.

In the Classroom:

• Deliver high-quality instruction aligned with GCPS standards to inspire excellence and equity.
• Utilize classroom management and IDEIA requirements to support a diverse student body.

On the Field:

• Character Development: Teach desirable traits such as persistence, teamwork, cooperation, and the "desire to win."
• Program Management: Lead the development and implementation of sports programs; manage equipment inventory, maintenance, and storage.
• Student Welfare: Ensure all athletes have proper medical exams, insurance, and parental permission; emphasize safety in play and manage emergency transportation if needed.
• Supervision: Oversee locker rooms and practice sessions, ensuring a safe and disciplined environment.
• Promotion: Encourage lifelong participation in physical activity and healthy lifestyles.
