Food Services Specialist – Temporary Position SpaceX is actively developing technologies to enable human life on Mars. The Hospitality team serves employees, customers, and visitors with snacks, meals, and full‑service events. As a Food Services Specialist you will work in fast‑paced, dynamic environments either independently or with a team. You should have basic knowledge of food and beverage safety, and be comfortable using soda machines, hot‑and cold‑holding units, and serving utensils. Your tasks will vary throughout the day, including serving guests, meal production, inventory, station set‑up, and maintaining cleanliness. Responsibilities Set up, maintain and clean workstations, dining areas, and storage spaces. Perform cleaning and maintenance of departmental tools, beverage stations, coolers, and hot‑holding units. Complete daily record keeping, tasks and opening/closing checklists. Meet time and quality standards set by leadership while working with urgency. Engage customers, fulfill orders and demonstrate strong customer service and communication skills. Assist with catering and event requests. Adhere to proper safety guidelines and food safety/sanitation practices. Interact professionally with guests, supervisors, and co‑workers. Support proper product rotation, storage, and delivery according to food safety requirements. Follow stocking routes, track inventory, and receive/distribute products around the site. Participate in training of additional Hospitality roles as instructed by leadership. Position Details This is a temporary, 3‑month position subject to change with notice. Basic Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. 1+ year(s) experience in food preparation, customer service or a food‑services support role. Preferred Experience and Skills 3+ years of experience in food preparation or customer service. Experience working in high‑volume environments. Experience working in team settings. Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices. Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office). Familiarity with allergen identification and common dietary restrictions. Professionalism and experience in a corporate environment. Basic understanding of beer and wine service and different styles of service. Additional Requirements Must have or be willing to obtain a TX Food Handlers Card. Valid state‑issued driver’s license. Availability to work all shifts including overtime, weekends, and holidays. Physical capability to stand up to 10 hours per day, sit up to 1 hour, push/pull up to 50 lbs (unassisted) for 1‑2 hours per day, overhead reach up to 6 hours per day, walk up to 10 hours per day, lift/carry up to 25 lbs (unassisted) for 1‑2 hours per day, climb (ladder/stairs) up to 3 hours per day, kneel/crouch up to 6 hours per day, upper body twist up to 6 hours per day. Ability to work in temperatures >80°F for up to 3 hours per day. Candidate must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job and may be required to complete a pre‑employment questionnaire and/or medical examination.
