Medical Laboratory Technician

Overview Position Type Full Time Description Boone Memorial Hospital is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to join our laboratory team. In this essential role, you will perform a wide range of laboratory tests that directly support patient diagnosis, treatment, and care. Essential Functions As an MLT, you will play a critical role in delivering timely and accurate results: Collect, label, process, and distribute specimens (venipuncture, finger stick, arterial draws) Perform laboratory testing across multiple disciplines including hematology, chemistry, blood bank, urinalysis, and more Conduct arterial blood gas collections and EKGs as needed Ensure quality control standards are met and maintained Troubleshoot test discrepancies and resolve equipment or procedural issues Perform routine maintenance and calibration of laboratory instruments Assist with inventory management and maintaining lab supplies Maintain accurate documentation and reporting of test results Support training and orientation of new staff and students Maintain a clean, safe, and organized laboratory environment Participate in on‑call rotations as needed Skills, Qualifications, and Competencies Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (or equivalent) Current ASCP certification (or equivalent) Valid West Virginia MLT license Previous hospital laboratory experience preferred Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving skills Ability to operate laboratory equipment and analyze results accurately Commitment to quality, safety, and patient care Physical Requirements Combination of sitting, standing, and walking throughout shifts Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally Manual dexterity required for specimen collection and lab procedures Exposure to laboratory materials and clinical environments Equal Opportunity Employer Boone Memorial Hospital, Inc. provides equal employment opportunities to all personnel and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination, harassment, prejudice, and behavior of any type based on race, color, religion, age, sex (including pregnancy), national origin, disability status, family medical history or genetic information, past or present military service, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, family or parental status, political affiliation, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws. #J-18808-Ljbffr bmh.org
