Steptoe LLP is seeking an associate with 3-5 years of experience counseling clients on government cybersecurity matters to join our Government Contracts practice in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will have experience advising clients on government cybersecurity requirements and compliance obligations. A background in computer science and/or auditing is a plus. Certifications such as CMMC Registered Practitioner (RP), Certified Cybersecurity Practitioner (CCP), and Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) are preferred. Responsibilities Advising clients on a broad range of government contracts and regulatory matters, including cybersecurity requirements, compliance, and risk management issues. Conducting insightful research and analysis related to government contracting and cybersecurity compliance. Managing complex matters and assuming immediate responsibility for client issues. Collaborating with a high‑performing, cross‑functional team within the Government Contracts practice. Providing persuasive written counsel to clients. Qualifications 3–5 years of experience counseling clients on government cybersecurity matters. Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. Membership in the District of Columbia Bar, active and in good standing. Background in computer science and/or auditing is preferred. Certifications such as CMMC Registered Practitioner (RP), Certified Cybersecurity Practitioner (CCP), or Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) are preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills; proven ability to conduct research and produce persuasive writing. Benefits & Compensation Anticipated salary range: $260,000 – $365,000, depending on experience and qualifications, and other job‑related factors such as relevant skills, education, and professional licenses.
