Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist for AI Safety Benchmarking

Contribute clinical expertise to build a clinician-informed benchmark that evaluates how AI companion chatbots respond to adolescents with mental health concerns. You will design realistic adolescent case scenarios, help define evaluation standards, and review AI conversations to ensure the benchmark reflects real-world clinical risks and developmental considerations.

• Author fictionalised adolescent mental health case scenarios grounded in clinical experience.
• Evaluate scenarios for clinical realism, developmental appropriateness, and ethical considerations.
• Help develop and refine clinician-informed rubrics to assess AI chatbot responses.
• Review a subset of AI-generated conversations and provide expert judgments used to calibrate automated evaluation systems.
• Advise on best practices for assessing AI behaviour across key mental health domains, including:
• Suicide and self-harm, including risk recognition, safety planning, and crisis referral.
• Medical and therapeutic impersonation, including inappropriate diagnosis or treatment advice and discouraging professional care.
• Parasocial attachment and anthropomorphism, including claims of consciousness, fostering emotional dependency, and discouraging trusted relationships.

• Professional background as a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, Clinical Psychologist, or Mental Health Researcher, with relevant advanced degree such as MD, DO, PhD, PsyD, or equivalent.
• Clinical or research experience focused on children and adolescents.
• Expertise in one or more of the following areas: suicide prevention, self-harm assessment, child and adolescent psychiatry, clinical child psychology, digital mental health, or evidence-based therapies such as DBT or CBT.
• Strong written communication skills and ability to provide structured clinical feedback.
• Comfortable reviewing fictional clinical scenarios and evaluating AI-generated conversations.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience conducting suicide risk assessments or crisis intervention.
• Academic publications or research in adolescent mental health, suicide prevention, or digital therapeutics.
• Experience developing clinical guidelines, assessment frameworks, or educational materials.
• Prior work evaluating AI, digital health technologies, or mental health products.
• Experience supervising trainees or working on multidisciplinary clinical teams.
