Imagine you arrive at a rail yard at daybreak. A hi-rail truck is throwing errors on its LMI and a boom truck needs a hydraulic reseal — crews are waiting. You pop open your laptop, scan the CAN bus, pull up the OEM manual, and get to work. By mid-morning, both units are tested, road-ready, and back in service. That’s impact. That’s the kind of work you’ll do with Custom Truck One Source (CTOS), the single source for specialized trucks and equipment serving utility, telecom, construction, forestry, oil, and rail customers nationwide.

What you’ll do

• Diagnose and repair chassis-mounted and track-mounted aerials, digger derricks, cranes, hi-rail trucks, and related systems to OEM/dealer standards.
• Use manuals, repair orders, and digital diagnostics to identify faults and plan work — laptop proficiency required.
• Tackle LMI (Load Moment Indicator) and CAN bus (Controller Area Network) issues with confidence.
• Perform electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting on utility fleets and specialized equipment.
• Handle both field and shop repairs; confirm performance with road tests.
• Create accurate inspection reports; capture labor hours, parts, and costs; complete timecards without fail.
• Tag and return warranty and core parts per process.
• Alert the Service Manager when scope shifts, work isn’t needed, or timelines change.
• Adhere to CTOS safety protocols; participate in CTOS and factory training.
• Comply with environmental requirements, including hazardous waste handling/disposal.
• Work closely with customers and teammates to shorten downtime.
• Be ready to travel beyond your normal territory as needed.
• Collaborate with the Service Manager to raise service quality and customer satisfaction.

Bring your background

• High school diploma or GED.
• 5+ years of shop and field technician experience.
• Valid Class A or B CDL.
• Your own professional-grade tools.
• Solid software/documentation skills and on-time execution.

Stand-out skills

• Electrical work, reading schematics/blueprints, hydraulics, and welding.
• Comfort with QuickServe, DTNA, or similar diagnostic tools.
• Understanding of DOT, ANSI, and dielectric testing.

Work conditions

• Outdoor environments with wet/humid conditions; occasional extreme heat/cold; moderate to loud noise.
• Professional, positive, punctual presence.
• Lift/carry/push/pull ; bend/stoop; lift up to 50 lbs.

• Dexterity to operate tools and test equipment.

• Cranes: Manitowoc, Terex; plus boom cranes.

• Hi-rail and refuse trucks; PTO systems.
