Registered Nurse ER

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room (ER) is responsible for delivering expert nursing care in a fast-paced, acute care environment. This role involves managing patient care with a focus on critical assessment, medication administration, and collaborating closely with the interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The nurse must maintain competency in advanced life support protocols and adhere to strict patient-to-nurse ratios.

Responsibilities:

Provide skilled nursing care to ER patients, including assessment, treatment planning, and medication administration.
Manage care for patients with diverse and acute medical needs in a Level II Trauma Center setting.
Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient status and interventions.
Adhere to established patient-to-nurse ratios, specifically a 1:3 ratio in the ER.
Comply with hospital policies, procedures, and dress code requirements.
Participate in continuing education and maintain certifications relevant to emergency nursing.

Required Skills & Certifications:

Active Registered Nurse license in the state of employment.
Minimum of 2 years nursing experience, specifically in Emergency Room or acute care settings.
Certifications: ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support), BLS (Basic Life Support), TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course), and NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale).
Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and critical thinking skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

Experience working in a Level II Trauma Center or similar high-acuity environment.
Familiarity with hospital electronic medical records and documentation systems.
Additional specialty certifications related to emergency nursing or trauma care.

Special Considerations:

Work requires adherence to a strict dress code: licensed nursing personnel must wear solid navy blue uniforms or scrub attire; print tops are not allowed except in designated pediatric or women's services units.
Must be able to work weekends, with approximately 6 weekend shifts every 6 weeks.
No on-call responsibilities are required.
Floating between units is not required for this position.
48-hour shifts are not approved.

Scheduling:

Work schedule includes block scheduling that is approved but not mandatory.
Shifts include weekends as specified; typical nurse-to-patient ratios are maintained.
