Senior - Water Resource Engineer - Transportation

Pennoni is hiring a Water Resources Engineer to support transportation projects. The role involves performing hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, stormwater, drainage, erosion and sediment control design, flood studies, bridge hydraulics and scour analysis, infrastructure resiliency, and plan/report preparation. This position is based in Newark, DE and works with transportation agencies, municipalities, private land developers, and corporations across the Mid‑Atlantic region. Job Responsibilities Lead/Support H&H, ES&C, drainage and SWM tasks associated with bridge replacement and highway improvement projects for multiple clients throughout the Mid-Atlantic region with a focus in Delaware and the surrounding states. Develop plans, technical reports and specifications. Mentor younger staff. Interact with clients with opportunities to perform project management if desired. This position offers diversified projects and assignments with different clients. Required Attributes PE Required Education: BSCE Years of work experience: > 5 years. Experience in hydrologic/hydraulic (H&H) modeling and design of a range of water resources projects including culvert/bridge rehab and/or replacement, stream restoration, drainage, stormwater management. Strong technical writing and communication skills. Experience with state DOT design criteria. Preferred prior project experience with DelDOT, MDSHA, VDOT, DCDOT, and/or PennDOT projects. Essential H&H Software Tools: Bentley OpenRoads Designer, ArcGIS, HY-8, HEC-RAS, WinTR-55, HEC-HMS, HydroCAD, SMS/SRH2D. Preferred Attributes Masters Degree in Civil Engineering with a focus in Water Resources Engineering. Strong leadership qualities and desire to mentor entry level engineers. Comfort interacting with clients. Strong motivation to work on multiple concurrent assignments while serving multiple roles within a team environment.
