Location – Multi‑County, PA Salary – $86,189.00 - $107,345.00 Annually The Position The Department of Environmental Protection is seeking qualified candidates with experience in underground anthracite coal mining. This opportunity is ideal for individuals who are passionate about contributing to the preservation of Pennsylvania’s environment. Description of Work In this position, you will guarantee adherence to the Anthracite Coal Mining Laws, offering support to the public and delivering safety recommendations to the mining sector. The gathered information will be entered into the Department of Environmental Protection’s electronic data system to maintain integrity and precision of the data. You will be responsible for upholding safety standards and enforcing regulations related to the installation and functioning of electrical equipment. Thorough inspections of electrical apparatus will be conducted across anthracite deep coal mines, preparation facilities, and storage areas. These inspections are essential for mitigating risks associated with accidents and ensuring reliability of electrical equipment. Work Schedule and Additional Information Full‑time employment Work hours: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch break This position may require you to be on call 24/7 Multiple positions may be filled in the following counties: Schuylkill, Carbon, Dauphin, Northumberland, Columbia, Lackawanna, and Luzerne Salary may be non‑negotiable in some cases Required Experience, Training & Eligibility Qualifications Five years of experience in the underground anthracite coal mines of Pennsylvania in the capacity of a mine electrician or electrical engineer, or an equivalent combination of experience and training. Graduation from a standard high school or vocational school is required. Testing is based on the Anthracite Coal Mine Act No. 346. Studying the Act will be advantageous. You may retest one month after the date of your last exam; a new application must be submitted.
