Director, Finance & Accounting Recruiting Interim Leadership · Retained Search · Contingent Recruiting Remote (SF Bay Area transitioning to hybrid) The Opportunity: Conexus is building out its San Francisco Bay Area finance & accounting talent practice, and we're looking for an experienced recruiter to join as our second hire. This is a ground-floor opportunity to help shape a practice from its earliest days - with the trajectory, autonomy, and upside that comes with it. You'll work directly alongside the Partner leading the practice, with a clear path to increasing ownership as the team grows. What You'll Do: Own a full desk across interim leadership placements, retained search, and contingent (direct-hire) recruiting for finance and accounting professionals. Manage the complete search lifecycle: client and candidate development, intake calls, sourcing, screening, presentation, offer negotiation, and close. Build and nurture a network of finance & accounting candidates and hiring clients across the Bay Area market. Partner closely with the Practice Lead on business development - identifying target accounts, developing new client relationships, and expanding existing ones. Help establish repeatable processes, market intelligence, and playbooks as an early member of a growing team. Represent Conexus at industry events, networking functions, and in the local finance & accounting community. What We're Looking For: We're open to candidates from either of the following backgrounds: Interim/fractional placement experience with a strong business development orientation - you've built a book of clients and know how to generate and close new business, or Permanent placement experience running a true full desk - sourcing, client management, and closing, without heavy reliance on a separate business development or sourcing team. A track record of success recruiting finance and accounting talent (controllers, FP&A, accounting managers, CFOs, or similar) is strongly preferred. Self-starter mentality - comfortable operating with real autonomy in a lean, early-stage team environment. Strong communication and relationship-building skills; ability to build trust quickly with both clients and candidates. Bay Area market knowledge or existing local network is a plus. Location & Flexibility: Fully remote to start. Transitioning to a hybrid schedule (approximately 3 days/week in-office) once a Bay Area office location is established - San Francisco or Walnut Creek.
