Senior BI Developer

Insight Global is seeking a Senior BI Developer to join their client's Data Office. Responsibilities include:
- Lead the transition and ownership of BI solutions from the existing MSP/third-party provider.
- Serve as the primary owner and leader of a business domain, partnering directly with front-office stakeholders.
- Gather requirements, define reporting solutions, and independently drive work from request through delivery.
- Develop and optimize SQL queries, data models, and Power BI solutions.
- Lead business discussions and provide technical guidance behind the scenes.
- Participate in daily scrums and collaborate across teams to deliver analytics initiatives.
- Leverage AI tools extensively for onboarding, knowledge transfer, solution design, and productivity improvements.
- Drive continuous improvement and act as the go-to BI expert within assigned subject areas.

Required Skills & Experience
- Advanced Power BI expertise, including semantic models, DAX, dashboards, paginated reports, row-level security (RLS), and performance optimization.
- Advanced SQL expertise with experience writing complex queries, stored procedures, data validation, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
- Strong understanding of data warehousing, ETL/ELT concepts, dimensional modeling, and data integration.
- Proven ability to translate business requirements into scalable reporting and analytics solutions.
- Demonstrated hands-on use of AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, etc.) to accelerate development, analytics, documentation, and troubleshooting.
- Experience integrating AI into BI workflows to improve efficiency and business outcomes.
- Strong critical thinking, analytical, and communication skills.


Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- Experience with Azure technologies such as Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, SQL Server, or Fabric.
- Experience mentoring junior developers and driving data quality and governance best practices.
- Advanced prompt engineering and AI-assisted development experience.
