Provides support to the Local/Territory operations personnel in all areas of operations and to provide engineering design and project management of major gas main expansion projects. WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution. Minimum of 18 months of related experience as an Engineer, or 12 months of experience as an Engineer with a FE. Strong organizational and project management skills, good written and oral communications skills, knowledge of engineering procedures, ability to read and understand plans and alignment sheets, ability to problem solve and to analyze problems logically, good judgment, must be willing to perform in emergency situations. PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Performs routine engineering work requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related engineering tasks; receives close supervision on new aspects of non-routine assignments; using prescribed methods, performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer; may have minor responsibility for training and orientation; may schedule/coordinate projects with supervision and review; under the oversight of other engineers, prepare engineering analyses, write specifications and reports as directed. Develop standard designs and drawings as assigned for approval by others. Assist in the design and construction of the company's larger volume gas facilities, to include: gas flow/process development, equipment specifications and RFQ, Material specifications and RFQ, Cost estimation, creation of design and construction drawings, oversight of permit acquisitions, coordination with other engineering disciplines or outside engineering firms, preconstruction planning and scheduling, recommend selection of contractors based on bids, coordination with contractors , construction inspection, completion of post project documentation and transmittals, receiving materials and services in SAP and invoice payments. Under supervision, provide Synergee modeling results to Local/Territory operations and Fuels Management staff. Under guidance from Senior Engineer or Manager, support Local/Territory operations on engineering specific issues as needed. Travel throughout the Company's service area to provide support as needed. Performs additional related duties as assigned by Manager, including gathering information and providing feedback and updates to department management on engineering and operations issues, and updates on pipeline supplier issues. WHAT WILL GIVE YOU A COMPETITIVE EDGE? Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical/Civil Engineering from an accredited institution. Passed the Fundamental of Engineering (FE) exam. Minimum of six months of related work experience in the natural gas industry. Experience in AutoCAD and/or Microstation. Knowledge of Microsoft Project. WHO WILL BE A PART OF YOUR TEAM? Incident Response Assignment Our community relies on Peoples Gas to respond swiftly and effectively to all types of incidents, including but not limited to major storm events (e.g., extreme cold, tropical storms, hurricanes), gas leaks, equipment failures, environmental hazards, and other emergencies that may impact public safety or service continuity. Peoples Gas depends on each team member to fulfill their primary and/or alternate roles and responsibilities during such incidents.
