Job Summary This role determines transmission line routes and substation sites for Electric Transmission projects. Acquires local, state and federal permits for transmission and substation facilities. Prepares environmental assessments and studies of transmission and substation projects. Makes presentations for proposed projects to civic groups, property owners and regulatory agencies. May testify before federal, state and local agencies concerning transmission routing and substation siting. Coordinates permitting activities with local, state and federal agencies. Performs financial analysis to determine most cost effective solutions. Guides, advises and trains less experienced Siting and Permitting Specialists. The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following: Siting and Permitting Specialist: 2+ years of related experience. Senior Siting and Permitting Specialist: 5+ years related experience. Full knowledge of local, state and federal laws concerning permitting transmission and substation facilities . Excellent verbal and written communication, public speaking, negotiating and customer service skills. Familiarity with GIS/Graphic design computer applications. Education Requirements Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Bachelor Preferred Discipline: Business, Engineering Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred disciplines(s) listed above. What You'll Get Expected Hiring Base Salary Range: Siting & Permitting Specialist: $73200 - $95000 Senior Siting & Permitting Specialist: $81900 - $106400 The expected hiring base salary range is the range we anticipate hiring within for this position. The actual salary offered may vary based on factors such as the selected candidate’s qualifications, skills, experience, and work location.
