Senior Manufacturing Engineer

Flowline designs and manufactures level measurement and control instruments for chemical, water, wastewater, oil and dry solid applications. We enable industrial manufacturers, chemical distributors, municipalities, and energy or food suppliers to safely and efficiently manage their assets. About the Role Flowline is experiencing increased demand across several produce lines used in data center liquid cooling, power generation and other AI related infrastructure. We are looking for a hands‑on Manufacturing Engineer who can help us scale production activities while maintaining quality. This role sits at the intersection of Engineering, Operations, Quality, Purchasing, internal production, suppliers, and contract manufacturers. The right person will be comfortable reviewing drawings, troubleshooting assemblies, improving fixtures, walking a production floor, asking practical questions, reviewing production data, documenting processes, and driving issues to closure. The immediate focus will be production ramp support, contract manufacturer execution and manufacturing quality. What You’ll Do Support production ramp activities for assigned Flowline products, including first builds, production transfers, first article inspections, and new product introductions. Work directly with contract manufacturers and suppliers to resolve production, quality, documentation, delivery, and open engineering issues. Review production performance with manufacturing partners, including WIP, shortages, yield, rework, scrap, constraints, and recurring problems on a daily or weekly basis. Improve manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, test procedures, inspection plans, production travelers, process flow diagrams, control plans, PFMEAs, and production readiness documents. Build, improve, and troubleshoot production fixtures, test fixtures, assembly aids, special tools, test equipment, and related manufacturing processes. Troubleshoot electromechanical assemblies and production issues involving sensors, wiring, soldering, adhesives, plastics, fixtures, and test methods. Investigate defects, supplier issues, test failures, customer complaints, and nonconforming product; drive corrective actions that fix the root cause. Review drawings, BOMs, specifications, and procedures for manufacturability, clarity, completeness, and supplier usability. Support engineering changes and train internal or contract manufacturer personnel when process, fixture, documentation, or product changes are implemented. What We’re Looking For A strong candidate will have: 10+ years of hands‑on manufacturing, production, process, quality, or supplier quality engineering experience. Experience working directly with contract manufacturers, suppliers, production teams, or outside manufacturing partners. Strong troubleshooting ability with electromechanical products, electronic assemblies, sensors, controls, test fixtures, or industrial equipment. Ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, BOMs, specifications, and test procedures. Experience improving manufacturing documentation, production controls, work instructions, test procedures, and inspection plans. Practical understanding of production metrics, including first‑pass yield, rework, scrap, WIP, throughput, shortages, and nonconformances. Ability to identify root causes, drive corrective actions, and follow through until problems stay fixed. Comfort working in a small‑company environment where people wear multiple hats. Helpful Experience The following experience would be helpful, but not all of it is required: ISO 9001 quality systems, PPAP, control plans, process flow diagrams, PFMEA, DFMEA, first article inspection, or production validation. Soldering, PCB assembly, wire harnesses, potting, adhesives, plastics, ultrasonic welding, leak testing, pressure testing, or sensor assembly. ERP/MRP systems, document control systems, ECO processes, or controlled manufacturing documentation. Industrial products, instrumentation, sensors, controls, electronics, fluid handling, or related products. Education A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field is preferred. Equivalent hands‑on manufacturing engineering, quality engineering, production engineering, or electromechanical manufacturing experience will also be considered. The Work Environment This role is based at Flowline’s Los Alamitos facility. Work will include time in the office, engineering lab, production area, and supplier or contract manufacturer environments. Local and regional travel to suppliers and contract manufacturers in Fullerton and Vista will be required. The role may involve working around electrical test equipment, soldering equipment, hand tools, adhesives, epoxies, solvents, and industrial products. Proper safety practices and personal protective equipment must be used when required. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and occasionally climb ladders.
