Virginia Economic Development Partnership Virginia Beach, Virginia, VA Full Time Manufacturing and Production Posted 07/14/2026 Salary: US$35.00 - US$45.00 per hour Description: Position Summary The Manager of Welding Technology is responsible for the strategic leadership and standardization of welding operations across all ASC facilities. This role ensures best-in-class training, certification, inspection, and process optimization while maintaining compliance with industry standards. The position plays a critical role in advancing welding capabilities, improving quality, and developing workforce expertise. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Oversight Lead the welding technology function across all ASC locations Manage weld trainers, inspectors, and certification/assessment teams Establish workforce plans, goals, and performance expectations Training & Development Design and implement comprehensive welding training programs Ensure welders are properly trained, qualified, and continuously developed Address skill gaps through structured development initiatives Inspection & Quality Assurance Oversee the welding inspection program to ensure full operational coverage Collaborate with Quality Control to identify deficiencies and implement improvements Ensure proper documentation and adherence to QC standards Certification & Compliance Manage welding certification and assessment processes Maintain accurate AWS certification records and ensure regulatory compliance Continuously align certification practices with updated standards Performance & Continuous Improvement Develop and monitor key welding metrics, including: Certification rates and first-pass success rates Weld quality and defect trends Process effectiveness indicators Drive data-based improvements across all welding operations Innovation & Operational Excellence Research and implement advanced welding technologies Improve automation, efficiency, and production quality Support succession planning and technical knowledge transfer Qualifications Required Associate degree, technical certification, or trade school completion in welding or related field Minimum of 5 years of welding and welding technology experience Certified Welder Proven leadership experience in a technical or skilled-trades environment Preferred AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) Experience managing multi-site operations Skills & Competencies Strong knowledge of AWS codes, welding processes, and inspection standards Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities Ability to manage multiple priorities and work cross-functionally Additional Information This role supports welding operations across all ASC facilities Travel may be required to support multi-site initiatives #J-18808-Ljbffr Moss Interactive, LLC
