Assistant in Training

$18 - $22 per hour

Overview The Assistant in Training (AIT) and Assistant Manager position’s primary responsibility is to fulfill our mission statement, “to create the most enjoyable shopping experience possible for our Guests.” AIT and Assistant Managers perform a variety of sales, merchandising and operational tasks assigned by store management (e.g., cashiering, merchandise display and pulls, register procedures, and routine cleaning of facilities). Work directly with the Store Manager and Leadership Team to develop sales, recruit new Teammates and provide leadership. The AIT and Assistant Manager will also share responsibility for training and motivating Teammates and act as the Store Manager in their absence. The Assistant Manager Position is a progression from the AIT position and includes additional high level duties specific to that position, though the majority of job duties and responsibilities are shared. Compensation & Benefits Pay range: $18-$22/hr The estimated range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job-related reasons. For sales positions, Buckle pays a base rate plus commission on sales. The range listed is the estimated base rate plus commission for Teammates in this position. Time Off Vacation is earned on a progressive schedule based on your role and years of service, starting at 80 hours or 120 hours, depending on employment status and prorated for the first partial year. Teammates earn 40 hours of sick time per year, prorated for the first partial year; up to 40 hours of sick time may be carried over from one year to another. Teammates also receive one floating holiday and up to three days of bereavement leave. Salaried teammates receive a paid volunteer day. Income Protection Company-paid basic life and AD&D insurance, with options to add Teammate-paid supplemental life and disability plans (short term and long term). Leave of Absence Support Paid and unpaid time away is available for qualifying situations, with guidance from our Benefits Team. Paid Leave in Applicable States Paid leave accrues where required by law; one hour of leave is accrued for every 30 hours worked. Essential Duties and Responsibilities This description intends to describe the general nature and level of work performed by teammates assigned to this job. Sales Generation and Guest Service Greet Guests with a friendly, engaging attitude and provide legendary service. Answer questions regarding the store and its merchandise. Recommend, select, and help locate merchandise based on Guest needs. Anticipate and fulfill Guest needs by suggesting additional items and creating a wardrobing experience. Demonstrate product knowledge and sales education; share knowledge with the Team. Maintain knowledge of current sales and promotions, policies regarding payment and exchanges, and security practices. Maintain personal sales and look for opportunities to improve team presentations. Achieve personal sales-per-hour, average sale and total net sales goals set by Store Management. Provide legendary service across Front 5, sales floor, fitting rooms, and the register area. Know exchange and return procedures and create showmanship opportunities. Use SPG daily to accomplish goals; meet or exceed standards in Buckle business builders and guest loyalty. Develop guest relationships to build a client-based business. Lead by example with showmanship, customer service, and attentiveness. Communicate Guest Levels to the Team; coach on business-driven questions. Be coachable and welcome feedback to improve sales presentations; perform leadership actions whether or not the Manager is present. Teammate Recruiting, Training and Development Recognize recruiting opportunities via Jobs & Careers cards, email referrals, and Teammate Recommend. Coach and develop relationships through Guest Loyalty and Guest Preferred. Lead, motivate and educate new Teammates to meet Buckle’s standards on a daily basis. Maintain a positive floor culture and dress code. Participate in daily setup, training, and performance tracking; motivate Teammates to complete daily tasks. Demonstrate denim showmanship and fit cards to drive results; balance all DM actions and weekly check-ins. Execute actions from department calendars and Weekly Delegation Worksheet; demonstrate leadership during segments. Engage guests with product; keep leadership informed of progress and updates. Record guest interactions and keep contact with top talent; train non-sales positions as needed. Assist Store Manager in recruitment and retention of staff; explain pay and Buckle Benefits. Visual Merchandise Management Own and influence product through zone ownership; assign zones daily with learning goals. Execute new tools and visuals; know and answer zone ownership questions. Delegate and review all 4 zones with Store Manager; ensure adherence to Visual Standards. Identify merchandising opportunities and communicate recommendations to Store Manager. Provide store tours and maintain appropriate freight display; ensure visual standards on floor and backroom. Operations Maintain flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holiday periods as required. Use planners and complete Opening and Closing Checklists; monitor security and Loss Prevention. Execute POS procedures; handle corporate communications appropriately. Maintain a positive attitude when dealing with Guests or Teammates; follow policies for payments, returns, exchanges and Loss Prevention. Navigate tools on the home page and provide guidance to non-sales positions. Complete scheduled shifts and cover as needed; keep store clean, organized, and shoppable. Provide feedback to Store Manager on merchandise handling; communicate policy violations and concerns to leadership in a timely, confidential manner. Understand and apply Buckle’s Code of Ethics and policies; complete new hire paperwork per guidelines. Complete tasks such as markdowns, pulls, inbound/outbound freight, recalls, RTVs; maintain inventory of supplies. Handle emergencies in the Store Manager’s absence per company guidelines. Supervisory and Leadership Give and receive feedback constructively; support Store Leadership and promote growth. Demonstrate professional, mature, and stable relationships with Teammates. Attend interviews and support Team Development and growth; problem solve and stay motivated to self-educate on company tools. Travel to cover other stores within the District as needed; manage schedule changes professionally. Maintain mission alignment by delivering high levels of customer service and positive team spirit; perform special projects as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities Assists the Store Manager in supervising. Education and/or Experience High school diploma or GED; or 1–3 months related retail experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
