The Clinical Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily clinical operations of the ophthalmology practice, ensuring high-quality patient care, efficient workflow, and compliance with regulatory standards. The Clinical Manager is the clinical knowledge-based counterpart to the Practice Manager. This position collaborates with physicians, clinical staff, and administrative leadership to implement best practices, optimize operational efficiency, and enhance patient experience. The Clinical Manager is also responsible for local practice training, staff development, and ensuring adherence to clinical protocols.
Key responsibilities include:
- Demonstrates a clear understanding of financial and performance statements.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of organization's position and opportunities for improvement and growth.
- The ability to confront difficult situations and proactively develop practical action plans.
- Maintains relationships with external business associates.
- Proactive approach to staffing including succession planning and gap analysis.
- Leads and manages the clinical and front desk teams.
- Oversees daily clinical operations.
- Ability to influence and gain support from teammates outside of the direct reporting relationship.
- Maintains confidentiality.
- Maintains knowledge of and follows policies, procedure, Code of Conduct, and all Federal and state rules and regulations related to the position.
- Outstanding organization and leadership skills.
Demonstrated advanced knowledge of:
- Patient intake and workup, following standardized protocol.
- Determining visual acuity.
- Anticipating and performing needed testing.
- Administering eye drops, ointments, and irrigating solutions to the eye as ordered by physician.
- Awareness of patient flow issues and ability to maintain efficient clinical flow.
- Obtaining and documenting patient history.
- Preoperative preparation of patients.
- Performing office duties and clinical tasks.
- Facilitating patient experience by assisting physicians in overall patient care.
- Working within the confines of the team.
- Regularly update daily provider schedules.
Requirements include:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field; RN license preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Strong knowledge of clinical operations, patient care standards, and healthcare regulations.
- Proficiency in EHR systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to patient-centered care and continuous improvement.

Physical requirement includes:
- Exerting up to twenty-five pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
- Repetitive motion.
- Have close visual acuity to perform an activity including viewing a computer terminal, extensive reading, interpretation, etc.
- Must possess the physical, mental, and cognitive skills needed to complete essential tasks, including abilities such as learning, remembering, focusing, categorizing, and integrating information for comprehension, problem-solving, and timely decision-making.
- Must be able to be stationary for prolonged periods of time.
Cognitive requirement includes:

- Performs task in a demanding environment requiring multi-task and prioritize work.
- Must be comfortable working and interacting with large groups of people daily.
