Position Summary

Vintage Grocers Receiver is responsible for accurately receiving, inspecting, and processing all incoming merchandise delivered to the store. This position ensures that products are received according to company standards, purchase orders, and safety guidelines while maintaining accurate inventory records. The Receiver plays a key role in controlling inventory, reducing shrink, and supporting efficient store operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Receive and verify incoming deliveries from vendors and warehouse suppliers.
• Inspect shipments for accuracy, damage, quality, and expiration dates.
• Match delivered products against invoices, purchase orders, and shipping documents.
• Report shortages, overages, damages, and discrepancies to management.
• Ensure proper handling of perishable, frozen, refrigerated, and dry grocery products.
• Maintain accurate receiving records and inventory documentation.
• Label and organize products for efficient storage and stocking.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and temperature-control requirements.
• Operate pallet jacks, hand trucks, and other approved equipment safely.
• Assist with inventory counts and audits as directed.
• Coordinate with department managers regarding incoming shipments.
• Keep receiving docks, coolers, freezers, and storage areas clean and organized.
• Return damaged or unauthorized merchandise according to company procedures.
• Maintain compliance with OSHA, food safety, and company safety standards.
• Assist other departments as needed to support store operations.
• Shifts range from mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays

QualificationsQualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous receiving, warehouse, grocery, or retail experience preferred.
• Basic math and recordkeeping skills.
• Ability to read invoices, purchase orders, and shipping documents.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift throughout the workday.
• Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Occasionally lift up to 75 pounds with assistance.
• Ability to work in refrigerated and freezer environments.
• Ability to push and pull loaded carts, pallet jacks, and merchandise pallets.
