Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Security Engineer to join a growing technology team in Bethesda, MD. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys working across infrastructure, networking, cloud, identity, and security rather than operating within a traditional SOC or narrowly defined security function.
The Infrastructure Security Engineer will help design, secure, maintain, and improve a hybrid technology environment spanning Microsoft Azure, AWS, Microsoft 365, Windows infrastructure, enterprise networking, identity and access management, virtualization, and security platforms.
The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in systems and/or network engineering and has expanded that experience into infrastructure security.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, secure, and support infrastructure across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments.
- Support Microsoft Azure and AWS infrastructure, including cloud security, connectivity, migrations, and ongoing operations.
- Administer identity and access technologies including Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory, MFA, Privileged Identity Management, Group Policy, and related access controls.
- Support Windows Server, Microsoft 365, endpoint management, patching, and enterprise workstation environments.
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise networking technologies including routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, segmentation, and secure connectivity.
- Partner with infrastructure and security teams to strengthen network architecture, hardening, and security controls.
- Monitor and investigate security events, vulnerabilities, and infrastructure issues and provide initial incident response and remediation.
- Support enterprise firewall, network security, endpoint security, and security monitoring technologies.
- Assist with infrastructure modernization and cloud migration initiatives while identifying opportunities to improve reliability, security, performance, and operational efficiency.
- Automate infrastructure and administrative processes using PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar scripting technologies.
- Work with internal technology teams, external vendors, and service providers to resolve technical issues and deliver infrastructure projects.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and infrastructure standards.
Qualifications
- Strong hands-on experience in infrastructure, systems, network, or security engineering.
- Experience supporting Microsoft Azure and/or AWS environments.
- Strong Microsoft infrastructure experience including Windows Server, Active Directory/Entra ID, Microsoft 365, Group Policy, and endpoint management.
- Hands-on enterprise networking experience with routing, switching, VLANs, VPNs, firewalls, and network segmentation.
- Experience with network/security technologies such as Cisco, Palo Alto, Meraki, Cisco ISE, Zscaler, or comparable platforms.
- Familiarity with routing technologies and protocols such as BGP, EIGRP, or similar enterprise networking protocols.
- Experience with identity and access controls including MFA, PIM, PKI, Intune, and related technologies.
- Experience with security monitoring, vulnerability management, endpoint protection, and incident response.
- Working knowledge of virtualization, backup/recovery, and hybrid infrastructure environments.
- Scripting or automation experience with PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar tools.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to work across systems, networking, cloud, identity, and security issues.
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical teams, business stakeholders, and external service providers.

Preferred Skills
- Experience supporting geographically distributed or multi-site environments.
- Exposure to property management, real estate, hospitality, or similarly distributed operating environments.
- Experience with technologies such as Microsoft Defender, Splunk, CrowdStrike, SCCM, Citrix, Azure Virtual Desktop, SD-WAN, or cloud-based security platforms.
- Familiarity with security frameworks and standards such as NIST.
- Experience supporting infrastructure modernization, cloud adoption, or data center migration initiatives.
