Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN) - Night Shift

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Night shifts, 4 days on with 12-hour shifts (18:45 - 07:15).

Job Description

The Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN) will provide patient-centered nursing care to adults and geriatrics with varying diagnoses, including but not limited to respiratory illness, infection, and chronic diseases. The RN will primarily work in a telemetry unit with specific responsibilities related to monitoring cardiac patients and responding effectively to emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications and monitor patient responses.
• Conduct patient assessments and develop care plans.
• Oversee the care and management of patients with colostomy and feeding tubes.
• Utilize telemetry and remote monitoring for patients' vital signs.
• Manage IV therapy and blood product administration.
• Provide wound care and monitor the healing process.
• Implement isolation precautions and infection control protocols.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient care.
• Educate patients and their families about care plans and discharge instructions.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of RN experience in Med/Surg or Telemetry settings.
• Current and valid RN license (NC or Compact) required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Experience with EKG interpretation, IV skills, and central line care preferred.
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start.
• Accepts first-time travelers and locals.

Patient Diagnoses

Patients will include those with conditions such as dementia, diabetes, COVID-19, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, and other typical Med/Surg diagnoses.
