Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Med/Surg/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years acute care required License: RN License Certifications: BLS, NIHSS preferred Must-Have: Experience in telemetry monitoring Description: The role involves providing care in a medical-surgical and telemetry nursing unit. Candidates must have a minimum of two years experience in acute care settings. First-time travelers are welcome as long as the experience requirements are met. Weekend shifts of 4-6 per contract are required, and scheduling requests will be considered by the manager. Floating between like units may be required based on facility needs. Staff ratios will typically be 1:5 to 1:6 during nights. Charting will be done using an electronic health record system. The patient population mainly includes adults and geriatrics. Daily census averages around 16 patients on the unit. Team support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy. Patients may have diagnoses related to medical oncology, joint and spine conditions, and general medical-surgical needs. Skills required include managing IVs, administering blood products, and monitoring telemetry. Effective communication and teamwork are essential for providing comprehensive patient care.
