Veterinary Extern - Specialty

Job Description

VRC Specialty Hospital is excited to offer educational externship opportunities for veterinary students at all levels. During your externship experience, you'll work alongside our board-certified specialists and experienced support staff to learn real-world case-management skills and participate in hands-on examinations, specialized procedures, and advanced surgeries.


Program Overview:

Our externships are open to all veterinary students, but preference will be given to those in their clinical year. We can accommodate students in two- to eight-week program blocks, and we will work with you and your specific institution to ensure our program meets your clinical requirements. VRC is open 24/7 for emergencies, but our typical student schedule is 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Schedule adjustments may be made according to individual department and case availability.


We currently offer opportunities in the following departments:

• Emergency and critical care - *limited to students interested in ER mentorship program post-graduation*
• Surgery
• Anesthesiology
• Neurology and neurosurgery
• Oncology
• Ophthalmology
• Diagnostic imaging
• Internal medicine
• Cardiology (limited)
• Physical rehabilitation
