We are seeking an experienced Phlebotomist who thrives within a busy outpatient Urology practice where collaboration, efficiency, and exceptional service are key to success.Job ResponsibilitiesAs a Phlebotomist in our Urology practice, you will play a vital role in supporting patient care by ensuring accurate specimen collection, processing, and handling. You'll work closely with providers, nurses, and support staff to deliver a seamless patient experience.Responsibilities include:Perform venipuncture and collect laboratory specimens from patients across various age groups while providing compassionate, patient-centered care.Verify patient identity, specimen labeling, and laboratory orders to ensure accuracy and compliance with established protocols.Process, prepare, and transport specimens according to laboratory requirements and turnaround expectations.Maintain specimen integrity and ensure all collection documentation is accurate and complete.Support clinic workflow by effectively prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced outpatient setting.Utilize electronic medical records, laboratory systems, and other technology to document and process patient and specimen information.Perform routine quality control activities and maintain equipment according to established procedures.Collaborate with providers, nurses, and staff to support efficient clinic operations and exceptional patient outcomes.Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment while adhering to all infection prevention and safety standards.Participate in ongoing education and competency development to stay current with best practices.QualificationsPrevious phlebotomy experience in a physician practice, outpatient clinic, urology practice, or similar healthcare setting.Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.Strong venipuncture and specimen collection skills with a commitment to patient safety and comfort.Excellent attention to detail and ability to accurately follow established procedures and workflows.Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy clinical environment.Experience using electronic medical records and laboratory information systems.Effective communication and customer service skills with a patient-first approach.Dependable, self-motivated, and able to take initiative while supporting team goals.Commitment to delivering care that reflects WakeMed's values and dedication to excellence.Serving the community since 1961, WakeMed Health & Hospitals is the leading provider of health services in Wake County.
