Responsibilities

– Draw blood samples from patients accurately and safely in compliance with established procedures – Prepare specimens for laboratory testing, ensuring proper labeling and documentation – Create a trusting environment for patients by explaining procedures and handling interactions professionally – Maintain accurate records and documentation of specimen collection activities – Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, professional environment – Demonstrate leadership behaviors focused on process excellence and confidentiality – Handle both forensic and clinical specimen collection with confidence – Perform daily activities independently, ensuring timely completion of assigned tasks – Support a positive image of the organization through professional interactions with patients and staff

Required Skills

– Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric specimen collection – Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment – Strong attention to detail and accuracy – Effective communication skills to explain procedures clearly – Ability to work independently with minimal supervision – Proficiency in keyboard and data entry tasks – Reliable and flexible availability, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as staffing needs dictate

Additional Skills & Requirements

– High school diploma or equivalent required – Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington – Minimum of 6 months of phlebotomy experience required; 1+ years preferred – Medical assistant or paramedic training is a plus – Experience in customer service within retail or service environments is advantageous – Candidate must reside in the San Jose area due to heavy traffic considerations – Prior experience with specimen collection and lab support preferred
