- BLS (AHA)
- ACLS (AHA)
- NIHSS Certification

Must-Have:
- Competency with cardiac medications (Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Heparin, Cardine, Dobutamine, Lasix, Bumex) and knowledge of titration and application of these medications.
- Competency in telemetry and knowledge of heart rhythms.
- Critical thinking skills to recognize changes in patient status and intervene.
- Knowledge of signs and symptoms of stroke to recognize changes in patient status and intervene.
- Strong communication skills.

Description:
Functioning within the organization's mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures, the Registered Nurse assumes responsibility and accountability for the care of assigned patients on their shift.

RN responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care using age-specific criteria.

Judgments are made based upon scientific knowledge and clinical skills.

The RN also assists in planning, directing, and teaching non-RN staff such as LPNs/PCTs and Unit Secretaries.
