Capable of 180 miles at 180 mph on today's battery tech (and up to 400 miles with next-gen batteries), Seagliders will unlock fast, affordable, and sustainable coastal transit for passengers and cargo - connecting cities, islands, and communities like never before.Backed by leading investors and powered by a team of passionate, forward-thinking engineers, builders, and operators, we’re now scaling from a breakthrough prototype to full production - and building the team to make it happen.Position Title: Software Engineer II, Sensor Fusion & AutonomyCompany/Employer: REGENT Craft Inc.Worksite Location: 200 Callahan Road, North Kingstown, RI 02852JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Design, implement, and integrate a perception system to allow our seagliders to perceive the external environment, internal state of the vehicle, and operator intent.Spearhead rapid prototyping and innovation of perception solutions, manage trade studies, sensor evaluations, and perform hands-on integration and testing of complex perception systems into operational vehicles.Integrate, calibrate, and optimize multi-modal sensor suites (including sonar, radar, electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR), inertial measurement units (IMUs), and environmental sensors) to ensure robust situational awareness and reliable internal state estimationArchitect, deploy, and continuously enhance robust software build environments, transitioning vehicle software from initial prototypes to reliable, certified production avionics.Lead data collection efforts on and off vehicle to drive iterative improvement in software design, accuracy, and overall system performance.Utilize high-fidelity simulations and live sea trials to verify and validate perception software.Act as subject matter expert for state estimation across various engineering disciplines, including but not limited to flight controls engineers, GNC engineers, systems engineers, hydrodynamics engineers, and perception engineers.Take ownership of critical aspects of subscale and full-scale prototype development and testing, as well as oversee key phases of production craft development, validation, testing, and certification, ensuring adherence to industry standards and best practices.MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:Master of Science Degree in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a directly related field of study. Employer also requires the following:1 year of experience in Aviation, Aerospace, Robotics, Automotive, or an applicable software field.1 year of experience in Python coding skills.1 year of experience in C or C++.1 year of experience in debugging integrated complex distributed software systems deployed on vehicles, utilizing strong problem solving and analytical skills.1 year of experience with sensor selection, evaluation, and integration.1 year of experience in SLAM algorithms, systems, and frameworks.1 year of experience in state estimation.1 year of experience in designing, implementing, integrating, and debugging publish-subscribe messaging architectures across processes and systems.1 year of experience in autonomy system design, including actuation, propulsion, pathplanning, decision-making, and user interfaces.1 year of experience in integration and optimization of multi-modal sensors for robust situational awareness using advanced sensor fusion and perception algorithms.1 year of experience in modern computer vision, mapping, and semantic labelling.If you’re ready to take on an exciting challenge, grow with us, and make a lasting impact, we want to hear from you.
