Job Summary Under the direction of the Technical Director of IR/INR, the technologist performs a wide variety of Diagnostic and Interventional procedures in accordance with physician orders. This position requires a high level of technical knowledge, skill and the ability to work in close cooperation with members of a team of physicians, nurses and other technical staff. The technologist participates in research projects, inventory management and staff training. The technologist is involved in the evaluation and instruction of new techniques and equipment. The technologist interacts with patients daily and maintains a safe, respectful and comfortable environment for the patient. Essential Responsibilities Technologist assists physicians and follows departmental guidelines and protocols in the performance of all diagnostic and neurointerventional radiologic procedures. Follows infection control, sterile technique and contrast media protocols. Performs operation of imaging and interventional equipment (U/S, CT 3‑D, Digital subtraction, Angiojet). Evaluates image quality. Knowledge of and responsible for supply inventory, expiration and stocking. Maintains monthly checks for supply expiration, patient database, eyewash and equipment competencies. Cooperates and assists with shift coverage and on‑call responsibilities. Follows departmental guidelines and protocols in the scheduling and documentation of exams (imaging, PACS, etc.), maintaining accurate and complete records relative to the examination performed. Maintains a friendly, respectful manner with patients and is responsive to their physical, psychological and social needs. Explains procedures clearly and concisely. Maintains proper hand hygiene. Cooperates and assists with cross‑training and orientation of other employees and students. May be required to assist with tasks that facilitate the operational flow of the unit. Adheres to all hospital and departmental policies and procedures and to all federal regulations with regard to radiation safety. Makes sure they can wear a lead apron, stand for long periods of time, multitask and work quickly and efficiently. Required Qualifications Vocational or technical training in Radiologic Technology required. Associate’s degree in Radiologic Technology preferred. State licensure as a MA Radiologic Technologist‑Radiography required; registration as a RT(R) (ARRT) required; and a Certificate I Basic Life Support required. 1‑3 years of specifically related work experience required. Experience with computer systems required, including web‑based applications and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, or Excel). Preferred Qualifications Prefer 2 years of Special Procedure, Interventional Radiology, or Cardiac Cath. Lab. experience. Prefer credentialing with ARRT as a Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI) or Cardiovascular Interventional Radiography (CV) technologist. Competencies Decision Making: Ability to make decisions guided by general instructions and practices requiring some interpretation, and make recommendations for solving problems of moderate complexity. Problem Solving: Ability to address varied problems requiring analysis or interpretation of the situation using direct observation, knowledge and skills based on general precedents. Independence of Action: Ability to set goals and determine how to accomplish defined results with guidance from the manager or director. Written Communications: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in written English with internal and external customers. Oral Communications: Ability to comprehend and communicate complex verbal information in English to medical center staff, patients, families and external customers. Knowledge: Ability to demonstrate full working knowledge of standard concepts, practices, procedures and policies and to apply them in varied situations. Team Work: Ability to work collaboratively in small teams to improve operations by offering ideas, identifying issues and respecting team members. Customer Service: Ability to provide a high level of customer service to patients, visitors, staff and external customers in a professional, service‑oriented, respectful manner, use active listening and problem‑solving skills, and remain calm in stressful situations. Age based Competencies Employees in this job must be competent to provide patient care to the following age groups: Young adult (16‑30 years), Middle Age (30‑60 years), Elderly (60‑). Physical Nature of the Job Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and up to 20 pounds of force frequently. The job is physical in nature and requires standing and/or moving around for the majority of the shift. Pay Range $49.00 - $72.81 The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, certifications, geography of work location and job responsibilities. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
