We are seeking an experienced and licensed Land Surveyor (LS) for the position of Managing Surveyor based out of our San Mateo office.The OpportunityWe are looking for a California Registered Land Surveyor candidate, with a minimum of 12 years' experience. The Managing Surveyor position is for a seasoned field and office Surveyor ready to manage projects along with the field and office staff. This position is based in our San Mateo office and offers a potential hybrid schedule, allowing work time to be split between the office and home upon management approval.The ideal candidate for this position is looking to transition into a leadership role to run the survey department. They are able to work independently with minimum supervision, have sound technical skills, are team oriented, personable, and possesses a strong desire to make a positive contribution to the business. They are a well-organized and versatile individual with excellent writing and verbal communication skills and is experienced in the various aspects of surveying.Key ExpectationsClear, concise, and grammatically correct oral and written communicationsExcellent surveying math skills such as coordinate geometry and trigonometrySkill with AutoCAD Civil3DAn attention to detail and error checking habitsProfessional demeanor and appearanceResponsibilitiesProject:Contracts: Prepare proposals and estimate work, review contract language, prepare subconsultant agreementsSurvey and Mapping: Prepare/direct preparation of Tentative and Final Maps, ALTA Survey Plats, Records of Survey and Corner Records, Legal Descriptions and Plats, Topographic and boundary surveys, and various other exhibits in AutoCAD Civil 3D from field data, record maps, and deedsQuality control and quality assuranceManage office staff and field crewsMaintain schedules and budgetsReview billingsAssist the Management Team with:Business development - Public/private sectors, marketing and winning work, maintaining sales targetClient careProfitabilityARBillingsRisk managementEmployee mentoring/support, training, and evaluationsDepartmental leadershipAssist with hiring, retention, and performance improvementOther administrative items including time sheet review, company standards and procedures, etc.Required Qualifications12+ years of demonstrated surveying and project management experienceCalifornia Land Surveyor LicenseProficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3DExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExcellent customer service skills including an ability to interact professionally and knowledgeably with clientsWe offer a generous salary and benefits package that includes company paid medical and dental insurance, vacation and a 401(k).
