Position Summary :

The Laborer reports directly to the onsite project lead. This position assists the project lead and engineers with site prep, cleanup, organization, and support.

Essential Job Functions:

• Assists engineers and projects leads with the daily tasks associated with Vitus' shoreside marine projects
• Performs tasks involving physical labor, including but not limited to: moving, securing, installing, building, loading or unloading materials
• Effective operation of hand and power tools of all types
• Clean jobsites; removal of rubble and debris, hazardous waste, etc.
• Moving dirt or other material as directed by project lead
• Support engineering team, includes, but not limited to cooking and cleaning for crews, organizing gear and tools, etc.

Other Job Responsibilities :

• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver license and reliable transportation
• TWIC, preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

• Knowledge and experience with shipyards
• Ability to work in all weather conditions
• Ability to lift and carry up to 80 pounds, repeatedly
• Ability to follow instructions, written and oral
• Ability to identify and alert of safety concerns
• Skilled with hand and power tools
• Ability to work within the confines of Vitus Energy's policy and governing regulations

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent

Required Training & Certificates:

• Attends training sessions, seminars and appropriate educational classes required by department.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Work is usually done in a shipyard. Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, vehicles and equipment.

The employee must be able to physically travel by air within, and out of, the State of Alaska.
