Phlebotomist

Location: Falls Church, VA | Schedule: Full-time, on-site, M-F 8am to 4:30pm | Compensation: Not specified Overview A healthcare provider specializing in OBGYN and Internal Medicine services is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist for a contract position based in Falls Church, VA, projected to last 3 months with potential for permanent placement. This role is essential to ensuring accurate and efficient specimen collection and laboratory workflow support within a fast-paced clinical environment. What you'll do Perform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge samples according to established procedures Collect and store specimens, ensuring proper handling and documentation Clearly and courteously explain venipuncture and other specimen collection processes (e.g., urine or fecal) to patients Demonstrate proficiency using straight needles and/or butterfly needles Fully understand and follow physicians' orders Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes; label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required Verify all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy Package specimens properly for transport, maintaining required temperature and protocol standards Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations Attend annual department training sessions Respond to telephone inquiries and communicate laboratory results as needed Required qualifications Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, as required Minimum of 5 work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting Minimum 2 years of experience in a related role Some college coursework required High School Diploma or GED Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Compensation and benefits Benefits are available Why this role This is a contract opportunity projected for 3 months with the potential to become a permanent position, offering hands-on experience in a specialized OBGYN and Internal Medicine clinical setting. #J-18808-Ljbffr
