Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Critical Care Float position requiring ICU experience, Epic proficiency, and a GA or compact RN license.

Details

• Hospital-based position in a Critical Care Float role, with primary floating to ICU and potential floating to MS, MS/Tele, PCU, Neuro ICU, and CVICU units
• Adult to geriatric patient population across multiple acuity levels
• Patient ratios: 1:2–3 (ICU), 1:4–5 (PCU), 1:5–6 (MS/MS Tele)
• Epic EMR experience required; also uses Pyxis and SBAR communication framework
• Night shift schedule: 4x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend required (averaging 6 weekends over a 13-week contract)
• Floating is required; no on-call responsibilities
• No alternate shift or schedule change requests are permitted — the posted shift is firm

Requirements

• Active GA or compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Proficiency with Epic EMR required
• Copies of required certifications must be provided for consideration
• Two supervisory references (Manager level or above; charge nurses not accepted) are highly preferred — some units require two references on the profile for review

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates are accepted
• Navy blue scrubs are required
• RTO maximum is 7 days per contract; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
• RTO blackout dates apply: Spring Break (April 4–12)
• Holiday coverage policy: if 1–2 major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work all of them and no holiday RTO will be approved; if 3 major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler must work 2, and one holiday RTO request may be reviewed for approval
• Major holidays include: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday (counted as 1), Christmas Eve/Christmas Day (counted as 1), and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day (counted as 1)
• Travelers who have previously worked at any Piedmont facility must have been away for a full year before returning as a traveler
• Travel pairs will not be assigned to the same shift on the same unit
