Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Oncology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in specialty required License: Compact or state license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS required Must-Have: Epic experience required Must have experience in a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio Must be comfortable with float requirements Description: Please ensure traveler is aware of the expectations upon accepting the assignment. There may be an expectation to stay until after an emergency event or be part of the relief team. Details related to pay during emergency events will be communicated as necessary. Travelers should only apply if they are comfortable with these conditions. First-time travelers are welcome. The unit has a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4. Patient population includes hematology, medical oncology, and bone marrow transplant patients. The facility has a 7-bed positive pressure wing for bone marrow transplant and acute leukemia patients. Bedside procedures include CVC placements and bone marrow biopsies. Experience with equipment such as Epic-integrated Alaris IV pumps and barcode medication administration is required. Responsibilities include accessing and managing ports, administering chemotherapy, and managing blood products. The unit focuses on a treatment plan for patients with cancer diagnoses and provides interdisciplinary support. Daily census is approximately 28 patients with an emphasis on safety and quality care. Special procedures include chemotherapy infusion and management of acute patient conditions. Availability for weekend coverage and rotation with staff is necessary. Candidates must provide NURSYS reports to confirm licensure. Certification requirements apply based on specific job duties. Candidate must apply for licensure within a specified timeframe if necessary.
