Mechanical Engineer - Robotics EOAT, End Effector, Gripper

This is an opportunity to become the technical owner of one of the most important challenges in modern robotics: enabling robots to reliably manipulate the physical world.
You'll join a small, highly technical team developing autonomous robotic systems for complex industrial environments, taking ownership of end effectors and grippers that perform precise, real-world tasks where reliability, weight, and dexterity are critical.
Rather than optimizing an existing design, you'll help define the company's entire approach to robotic manipulation — designing, testing, and iterating a growing library of task-specific tools that enable robots to perform increasingly complex work.

You'll Get to Expand Your Experience In
- Designing and developing advanced robotic grippers and end effectors for highly dexterous industrial applications.
- Taking products from concept through prototyping, testing, and deployment.
- Solving challenging mechanical design problems where weight, precision, durability, and functionality must all be carefully balanced.
- Rapid hardware iteration using in-house manufacturing tools including CNC machining and 3D printing.
- Developing compact, integrated mechanical systems alongside robotics, software, and systems engineers.
- Influencing the long-term manipulation strategy of a growing robotics company.
What You'll Be Doing
- Design and develop task-specific robotic grippers and end effectors for precision manipulation tasks.
- Create and iterate new designs at a rapid pace, moving from CAD to physical hardware in hours rather than weeks.
- Develop lightweight, high-performance mechanisms that operate within strict payload and space constraints.
- Prototype, test, and refine designs through hands-on experimentation and real-world validation.
- Work closely with robotics and hardware teams to ensure seamless integration with robotic platforms.
- Contribute to the development of scalable tool-changing and end-effector systems that support a wide range of applications.
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of experience designing robotic grippers, end effectors, robotic hands, or similar manipulation systems.
- Strong CAD experience, ideally using SolidWorks.
- Experience with rapid prototyping techniques including 3D printing and CNC machining.
- Understanding of actuation systems, mechanisms, materials, and lightweight design principles.
- Experience taking mechanical systems from concept through physical testing and iteration.
- A hands-on engineering mindset with a strong bias toward execution.
