Software EngineerThe Software Engineer at South College will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining integrations between various software systems and platforms used across the college. This role will collaborate closely with stakeholders to understand business requirements, implement integration solutions, and ensure seamless interoperability between systems.Key responsibilities include:Working closely with stakeholders to gather requirements and identify integration needs across different departments and systems.Designing, developing, and maintaining integrations between various platforms, including student information systems (SIS), learning management systems (LMS), financial systems, and other business-critical applications.Implementing and configuring middleware platforms, ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) tools, and integration frameworks to facilitate data exchange and workflow automation.Ensuring compliance with institutional and regulatory data privacy and security standards (e.g., FERPA, GDPR).Collaborating with internal teams and external vendors to troubleshoot integration issues, resolve discrepancies, and optimize performance.Creating documentation, guidelines, and best practices for integration development, deployment, and maintenance.Monitoring integration processes, tracking data flows, and implementing error handling mechanisms to ensure data integrity and reliability.Staying current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to integration architecture and enterprise application integration (EAI).Providing technical guidance and support to other team members, end-users, and stakeholders regarding integration-related matters.Participating in cross-functional projects and initiatives to enhance the overall effectiveness and efficiency of digital systems and processes.Required skills include:Proficiency in programming languages such as C#, Python, or JavaScript, with experience in developing custom APIs and web services.Strong understanding of integration patterns, protocols, and standards (e.g., REST, SOAP, JSON, XML, OAuth).Familiarity with database systems, SQL queries, and data modeling concepts.Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to troubleshoot complex integration issues.Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders.Requirements:Education:Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.Master's Degree preferredExperience:5+ years proven experience as an Software Engineer, Software Developer, or similar role, with expertise in designing and implementing complex integration solutions.Experience working with cloud-based middleware and integration platforms (e.g., Azure Integration Services, Logic Apps, Azure API Management, Azure Service Bus) and ETL tools (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Informatica, Talend).Experience interacting with data layers across both on-premises and cloud environments, including experience working with Data Warehouses (e.g., Azure Synapse Analytics, SQL Server) and related data storage/retrieval solutions.Optional:Experience in the education sector or knowledge of academic systems and processes is a plus.Experience as a technical leader working with other IT disciplines
