Professional Land Surveyor

Professional Land Surveyor This position is open to multiple locations including Charlotte, NC; Mooresville, NC; Asheville, NC; and Greenville, SC. The role is full‑time and involves overseeing the completion of survey projects while leading field and office staff, coordinating with internal engineering teams, and liaising with external clients. Candidates will receive guidance from senior management. Your Impact Oversee the production of survey plans and other deliverables; schedule and set up field crews; update and maintain project tracking software; perform QA/QC reviews of staff work; manage equipment and supplies; prepare survey reports; process and review survey data; and make boundary determinations and adjustments to survey control with the guidance and approval of a PLS. Prepare estimates and proposals, participate in business development, and manage billing and account receivables for projects under their name. Participate in recruitment, mentor, and educate new staff. Collaborate with other departments within WSP and external subconsultants to meet project needs. Help develop and implement company policies, procedures, and standards. Work on a wide variety of survey projects in commercial, transportation, environmental, industrial, and energy sectors. Utilize drafting programs, survey data processing programs, project management tools, Microsoft Office products, and other software on a daily basis. Interact with clients via email, phone, or meetings regularly and represent WSP professionally. Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs. Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources, conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies. Required Qualifications Licensed as a Professional Land Surveyor in NC, or considered with LSIT or CST certifications, with a goal of becoming a PLS within 6 months. Bachelor’s degree in Geomatics (Land Surveying Related Fields) with 10+ years of relevant experience, or an Associate’s degree with 12+ years, or 14+ years of land surveying experience in lieu of a degree. Proven track record of good leadership, team building, and collaboration skills. Prior experience in both field and office performing a variety of survey work. Prior experience managing and maintaining schedules, budgets, staff, and equipment. Prior experience with drafting programs and survey data processing programs. Prior experience performing boundary research, compilations, and determinations. Prior experience processing and adjusting survey control. Substantial knowledge of land survey principles, practices, processes, methods, and techniques. Willingness to learn and teach others. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, detail oriented, organized, and responsive. Ability to work independently, as part of a team, or leading a team to complete tasks related to land surveying. Track record of upholding workplace safety and adherence to WSP’s health, safety, and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. Preferred Qualifications Professional Land Surveyor licensure in South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, or Florida. Knowledge or training in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microstation InRoads, Leica Infinity, and Microsoft Office Word and Excel. Survey experience in both field and office; experience in the greater New York City Area and with public agencies is a plus. Experience preparing estimates and proposals, participating in business development, and handling billing and account receivables. Existing client base.
