Job Purpose

The Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) is responsible for providing comprehensive eye care services, including routine vision examinations, diagnosis and management of ocular diseases, contact lens fittings, patient education, and medical eye care. The Optometrist will work collaboratively with the optical team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while maintaining accurate clinical documentation.
Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive eye examinations using standard optometric procedures
• Diagnose and manage ocular conditions such as glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, and dry eye syndrome
• Conduct contact lens fittings, including toric, multifocal, and specialty lenses
• Provide follow-up care and monitor patient progress
• Educate patients on eye health, treatment options, and preventive care
• Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR)
• Collaborate with optical staff to ensure an exceptional patient experience
• Participate in medical optometry services, including urgent eye care and surgical co-management

Qualifications
Education & Training

• Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree from an accredited Optometry program
• Current Connecticut Optometry license or eligibility for licensure

Experience

• Both Experienced and new graduates are encouraged to apply
• Experience in medical optometry, contact lens fitting, or ocular disease management is a plus

Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of optometric practices and ocular disease management
• Ability to perform comprehensive eye examinations and diagnose vision disorders
• Experience with contact lens fitting and medical eye care
• Proficiency in Electronic Health Records (EHR)
• Excellent communication and patient education skills
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities
• Commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centered care
