Commercial Property Auditor (Onsite)

Consultant Contract Role For Approx. 60 Days

The Consultant will oversee financial operations for a multi-state commercial real estate portfolio, with responsibility for internal audits, financial review, compliance, and property-level accounting accuracy. This role requires strong experience in commercial real estate, with a big plus for multi-family exposure. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, audit-minded, and comfortable working independently in a lean environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead full internal audits of all commercial properties across the U.S.
• Review and validate financial statements, property-level reporting, and supporting documentation.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and portfolio-wide policies.
• Partner with property managers and leadership to resolve discrepancies and improve processes.
• Oversee Yardi-based accounting workflows; ensure data integrity and reporting accuracy.
• Support multi-family financial reviews as needed.
• Provide recommendations to strengthen financial controls and operational efficiency.

Required Qualifications

• Commercial real estate accounting experience (required)
• Yardi experience (required)
• Internal audit or financial audit experience
• Strong understanding of property-level financials, reconciliations, and controls
• Multi-family accounting experience (preferred)
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple properties across states
