Unit Capacity: 30 Beds Population Served: Mainly womens oncology surgical observation patients who have a 24hr or less length of stay. The patent population includes: Women requiring a removal of a mass by hysterectomy both open and robotic to treat ovarian cancer, endometrial cancer, cervix, vulva (vulvectomy). Women requiring a mastectomy, lumpectomy or reconstruction all mostly due to a breast cancer diagnosis. Thyroid cancer surgery. 7 String patients are in various stages of cancer treatments. Surgery can be adjunct to chemo and/or surgery Skilled nursing care is required for this patient population to prevent complications, identify early complications and provide patient surgery specific education to be able to support the patient through a difficult surgery and diagnosis. The unit also has a general medical/surg patient population. Ages of Patients Served: Young Adult through Late Adult (18 - 60) Nurse to Patient Ratios: 1:6 Core Staffing Plan: Variable staffing grid to include: Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Patient Care Technicians (PCTs), Nurse Interns (NIs).
