Job Title: Machine Operator Job Description

This entry-level Machine Operator role offers the opportunity to work with a variety of manufacturing equipment to safely and efficiently produce blades for the construction industry. You will train on first shift and then move into a regular 1st or 2nd shift schedule, operating different types of machinery each day in a clean, well-lit production environment.

• Operate various manufacturing equipment daily to produce blades for the construction industry.
• Set up and verify production parts for each new production run.
• Maintain a safe work environment around all equipment and work areas.
• Produce quality parts in a safe, accurate, and efficient manner according to specifications.
• Change tooling as required to support different jobs and production runs.
• Lay out parts and check dimensions to ensure they meet blueprint and quality requirements.
• Ensure equipment is running as intended and report any issues promptly.
• Monitor machine operation throughout the shift to maintain consistent production.
• Detect problems with equipment using hearing, vision, and smell, and take appropriate action.
• Write basic machine programs to support production needs.
• Modify existing programs in response to problems or changes in production requirements.
• Perform all general labor positions in addition to primary machine operator duties as needed.

• Mechanical aptitude and ability to learn operation of different types of machinery.
• Ability to operate manufacturing equipment such as vertical mills, horizontal band saws, and hydraulic punch presses.
• Basic understanding of machine operation and production processes.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and part layouts to verify dimensions.
• Strong focus on safety and ability to maintain a safe work environment around equipment.
• Attention to detail to produce quality parts accurately and efficiently.
• Ability to monitor machines and detect equipment problems using hearing, vision, and smell.
• Basic programming skills to write and modify machine programs.
• Willingness and ability to perform general labor tasks in addition to machine operation.

• Comfort working in a production and manufacturing environment.
• Ability to learn and adapt to different machines and tools over time.
• Strong problem-solving skills to identify and respond to equipment issues.
• Reliability and punctuality for shift-based work.
• Willingness to work overtime when offered, including Fridays.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a smaller team across multiple shifts.

The role is based in a clean, well-lit manufacturing shop within a smaller building that houses a tool crib and production equipment. The team size is modest, with approximately 50–55 employees across two shifts, fostering a close-knit work atmosphere. New hires have the ability to train on 1st shift for about two weeks to get up to speed before moving into their regular shift. The position follows a shift-based schedule, including 1st and 2nd shift options, with 2nd shift operating on four 10-hour days and overtime available on Fridays. Uniforms and company apparel are provided to employees, supporting a consistent and practical dress code suitable for a production environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of De Witt, IA.

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
